Delta Flight DL2683 Minneapolis-Houston Suffers Smoke in Cabin

Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines flight DL2683, originally bound for Houston, had to make an emergency return to Minneapolis due to smoke in the cabin.

Information has been released pertinent to this incident, which we will detail in this article.

Delta Air Lines DL2683 – Minneapolis to Houston…


Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines flight DL2683, originally bound for Houston, had to make an emergency return to Minneapolis due to smoke in the cabin.

Delta Air Lines flight DL2683 is a routine scheduled flight between Minneapolis and Houston Intercontinental Airport.

Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was N305DU.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N305DU is a 3.8 year old Airbus A220-300 that was delivered to the airline in October 2020.

Moreover, of the A220-300 variant, Delta Air Lines has 26 of them in their fleet.

Of that 26, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 2.0 years.

As well as the A220-300 variant, the airline has the following other aircraft in their fleet:

– 35 Airbus A220-100s.
– 57 A319s.
– 58 A320s.
– 188 A321s.
– 71 A330s.
– 32 A350s.
– 88 Boeing 717s.
– 240 737s.
– 121 757s.
– 64 767s.

Delta Air Lines flight DL2683 departed Minneapolis at 2040 local time on August 2, and planned to climb out towards Houston.

However, the aircraft stopped it’s climb at around 6,000 feet and proceeded to make a return back to the departure field.

The Airbus A220-300 landed safely without further incident at 2106 local time, just over 25 minutes after departure.

Moreover, as per The Aviation Herald, it is understood this was due to smoke in the cabin of the aircraft.

Delta Air Lines confirmed that the aircraft operating DL2683 Minneapolis-Houston suffered a mechanical problem.

Aircraft Grounded For Two Days Following Smoke in the Cabin…

Data from RadarBox.com highlights that N305DU, the aircraft involved in the incident on Delta Air Lines DL2683 Minneapolis-Houston was grounded for two days following the incident.

The aircraft re-entered commercial service earlier today via the DL1579 rotation to Missoula and back.

Between now and August 5, the aircraft is expected to operate the following rotations after DL1579:

– DL2683 – Minneapolis-Houston.
– DL1417 – Houston to New York.
– DL2810 – Chicago to New York.
– DL2810 – New York to Chicago.

Overall, no further incidents have been reported with the aircraft, and things are operating normally.
