A Delta Air Lines flight en route from Atlanta, GA to Pensacola, FL has declared an emergency in the last few moments.
Delta Air Lines flight DL2211, a Boeing 717-200 out of Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport, declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst approaching the destination. The flight has conducted a turnaround and is initiating a diversion.

Having approached the destination in cruising flight at flight level FL220, flight DL2211 now appears to be making good a return to Atlanta.
The flight has now reverted from the emergency transponder code 7700 and is squawking a normal code as it returns.

Originally bound for Pensacola Regional Airport (PNS), Delta flight DL2211 has continued its return to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport (ATL), and is now on descent from FL190. Flight crew are continuing the return under normal operating procedures, having squawked code 7700 briefly before returning.

Weather for the flight’s return to Atlanta is presently visual fight conditions (VFR), with visibility 10 miles or more and cloud ceiling 7,000 feet. Active runways for arrivals are runways 08/09.

Having declared an emergency and discontinued its service to Pensacola Regional Airport earlier today, Delta flight DL 2211 has now returned and landed runway 09R Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport.

Flight data shows that Delta flight DL2211 was operated by Boeing 717-200 registered N608AT. The flight had made a delayed departure out of Atlanta. Actual time of departure was 18:16 local time, against a scheduled departure time of 16:57 local time.
Following departure, the flight had processed normally, climbing to flight level FL220 for the southeasterly service to Pensacola. Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 at 23:00 UTC, before initiating the direct return to Atlanta.
Update: Flash Flooding Closes Pensacola Airport
All flights out of Pensacola Regional Airport have been canceled. The airport closed for the night after flash flooding and a hail storm caused extensive flooding.
Delta flight DL2211 returned to Atlanta due to the closure.
