Delta Air Lines DL9888 Nice-New York Declares Emergency

Delta Air Lines flight DL9888, a Boeing 767-400ER from Nice to New York, has declared an emergency and is diverting to Paris Charles De Gaulle.

A Delta Air Lines flight operating from Nice, France to New York has declared an emergency whilst en route, and is currently diverting.

Delta Air Lines flight DL9888, a Boeing 767-400ER bound for New York initiated a diversion to Paris Charles De Gaulle. This was conducted as the flight was transiting out of French airspace ahead of the transatlantic crossing.

Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 whilst outbound at FL320.

Furthermore, they initiated a dogleg diversion to Paris Charles De Gaulle CDG. The nature of the emergency is not yet known.

08:20 UTC: Approach to Paris CDG


Having initiated the diversion earlier this morning, Delta flight DL9888 is now in the Paris region.

Moreover, the aircraft is now under vectoring for an approach to Paris CDG.

Weather for the flight’s arrival is visual conditions (VFR) with visibility 10 kilometres or more.

Flight crew have maintained the priority emergency transponder code 7700 for the diversion and approach to Paris main hub. The active runways for the flight’s arrival are RWY26/27, with the flight currently being vectored to final approach.

The flight declared an emergency and expedited a diversion whilst outbound for New York (JFK) earlier this morning. Following this, Delta flight DL9888 has now landed at the diversion airport Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG).

Flight data shows that flight DL9888 made an on-time departure out of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) at 08:21 local time this morning. The flight then set course normally for New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), climbing to flight level FL320 (32,000 feet).

Upon transiting French airspace, flight crew then terminated the climb procedure, squawking code 7700 at 07:43 UTC. The operating crew then carried out a backtrack and diversion to Paris CDG.
