Christchurch Airport Gets a Makeover for Summer Season

Christchurch Airport will see an upgrade to passenger amenities and self-service kiosks in the main terminal in preparation for the upcoming summer season.

Christchurch international Airport is preparing for a bumper summer season with a significant makeover of its terminal facilities.

Passengers arriving in the upcoming months can expect a fresh, modern environment with diverse dining options, convenient retail spaces, and upgraded amenities.

Revamped Food and Beverage Offerings

This exciting revamp prioritizes passenger experience, with a particular focus on the culinary journey.

Twelve brand-new eateries will be unveiled, offering a delectable selection that caters to a variety of palates.

Local Ōtautahi entrepreneurs Anton and Jess Matthews and Māia Gooday are bringing their renowned establishments, Fush and Tātou, to the terminal.

These restaurants are known for their exceptional hospitality and commitment to showcasing te reo Māori, ensuring visitors receive a taste of authentic New Zealand culture.

The existing food court will undergo a complete transformation, creating a more inviting and efficient space for travelers to grab a quick bite.

Passengers seeking international flavors won’t be disappointed, as Christchurch business owners Shawn Kim and Yong Song, already familiar faces with their popular Sushi Platter outlet, will introduce three exciting new additions to the food court.

Hikari will tantalize taste buds with steaming bowls of ramen and donburi, while Mama’s Kitchen promises mouthwatering Korean street food.

A revamped version of Sushi Platter will complete the trio, offering a convenient option for those on the go.

Global Expertise Meets Local Charm

This project marks a strategic partnership between Christchurch Airport and SSP, a global leader in airport food and beverage offerings.

SSP boasts a presence in 37 countries and is known for its commitment to creating exceptional experiences for travelers. This collaboration marks their first foray into the New Zealand market, and Christchurch Airport is proud to be their launch pad.

SSP will manage seven new outlets, providing a variety of offerings. Passengers seeking a premium experience can unwind at Portal. This is a sophisticated bar and restaurant located at the top of the escalator, previously occupied by Number 8 café.

Travelers seeking a pre-security beverage can grab a convenient caffeine fix at Fern and Co, located right next to the entrance for aviation security.

The regional departure lounge will gain a new haven for weary travelers. Urban Pantry, will feature a range of delicious “grab and go” options.

Discovered, an all-day cafe, will warmly greet international arrivals, offering them a delightful first taste of Christchurch.

Revamp to Self-Service Kiosks & Amenities

The upgrade project also incorporates more self-service kiosks and interactive screens throughout the terminal.

These advancements will streamline the travel process, allowing passengers to navigate check-in, baggage drop-off, and other procedures with greater ease.

The airport hasn’t overlooked essential amenities. Upgraded bathrooms will provide a more comfortable and hygienic experience. Meanwhile, a dedicated parent’s room caters to the needs of families with young children.

A spacious children’s play area will keep little ones entertained during travel. This should ensure a stress-free journey for both parents and children.
