Cathay Pacific is set to enhance its European connectivity by introducing direct flights to Munich. It will simultaneously re-establishing service to Brussels, with both routes launching in summer 2025.
The new services offering travelers seamless non-stop connections between Hong Kong and two significant European destinations. Hong Kong’s home airline will provide up to 93 return flights per week to 11 cities in Europe next summer.
Munich Flight Services
The airline will launch its inaugural passenger service to Munich on 16 June 2025, operating four weekly return flights. This new route will complement Cathay Pacific’s existing daily service to Frankfurt, marking its second German destination.
Munich, renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage, is also a pivotal economic, manufacturing, and transportation hub in Europe.
Travelers can now enjoy direct flights between Hong Kong and Munich, with convenient onward connections to various destinations across Asia-Pacific. These are accessible through Cathay Pacific’s home hub and European partner networks.
Brussels Flight Services
Following the Munich inauguration, Cathay Pacific will resume direct flights between Hong Kong and Brussels on 3 August 2025.
The Belgian capital stands as a crucial political center and transportation hub, steeped in historical significance. The new service will provide a vital link between Asia and the heart of Europe via Hong Kong.
Both Munich and Brussels routes will be serviced by Cathay Pacific’s advanced Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This ensures passenger comfort with fully flat beds in Business Class, spacious Premium Economy seats, and comfortable Economy cabin configurations.
Lavinia Lau, Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, offered comments about the network expansion. “We are thrilled to add Munich to our network for the first time and return to Brussels. It brings our European destinations to 10 and 11 respectively.”
“Hong Kong’s status as a world-class international hub will be further strengthened by these direct connections to two important European centers.”
Lau emphasized Cathay Pacific’s long-standing commitment to the European market, highlighting the airline’s four-decade history of non-stop European flights and plans to increase flight frequencies across existing routes in summer 2025.
European Network in 2025
In the upcoming summer season, Cathay Pacific will operate up to 93 weekly return passenger flights to Europe. This represents a notable increase from the current 78 flights.
This expansion includes the new Munich and Brussels routes, alongside existing services. These cover London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Manchester, Milan, Paris, Zurich, Madrid, and Barcelona.
Passengers traveling from Europe to Hong Kong can access the Cathay Group’s extensive Asia-Pacific network through its home hub. This supports 19 destinations in Chinese Mainland served by Cathay Pacific and HK Express.
By 2025, the Cathay Group aims to expand its passenger network to reach 100 destinations worldwide. This further solidifies the Hong Kong carrier’s position in the global aviation market.
