Flair Airlines ended 2024 on a high note, achieving a nation-leading 98.7% flight completion rate during the December peak travel season.
This achievement saw it outperform other major carriers in the Canadian aviation sector. WestJet achieved 97.4%, Porter Airlines reached 97.3%, and Air Canada followed at 96.5%.
End of Year Accomplishment
Interim CEO Maciej Wilk was pleased with the end of year accomplishment. “Delivering the highest completion rate in Canada during December’s peak holiday season demonstrates our unwavering commitment to reliable service.”
“Despite the typical challenges that winter brings, our dedicated team achieved one of our strongest operational performances to date. It ensured Canadians could connect with loved ones during this crucial travel period.”
The airline successfully transported 356,967 passengers to their holiday destinations in December. The airline facilitated countless family reunions, vacation experiences, and memorable moments.
This strong completion rate meant that more Canadian travelers reached their intended destinations compared to other domestic carriers. The achievement provided a boost to Flair Airlines commitment to reliable air transportation.
Punctuality Metrics in Challenging Weather
In terms of punctuality metrics, Flair recorded a 60.3% On-Time Performance (OTP). Overall, nine out of ten flights arrived within an hour of their scheduled time.
This performance follows the airline’s recently implemented On-Time Guarantee, demonstrating the carrier’s dedication to meeting its service commitments.
Wilk elaborated on this achievement. “Even when faced with harsh winter conditions, we maintained our steadfast commitment to minimizing delays. We honored our guarantee to passengers, ensuring their travel plans remained as undisrupted as possible.”
Within the competitive landscape of Canadian carriers, Flair’s December punctuality positioned it firmly in the middle range.
Air Canada achieved 62.9%, WestJet reached 66.9%, and Porter Airlines recorded 56.4%. It should be noted that challenging weather conditions typically impact Canadian winter operations. Overall, the airline maintained competitive service levels and delivered consistent performance across its network.
Environmental Focus
Environmental sustainability remains a core focus for Flair. This is evidenced by its industry-leading carbon emissions rate of 89.56 grams per revenue passenger mile.
Through strategic network optimization and efficient operational practices, the airline continues to maintain its position as a pioneer in sustainable Canadian aviation.
Operating at an impressive 87.3% load factor, Flair demonstrated its ability to maximize resource efficiency while meeting the high demand of holiday travel.
