Brussels Airlines continues its fleet renewal program, adding three more Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet by summer 2026.

These advanced aircraft deliver significant environmental benefits, including up to 20% lower CO2 emissions and 50% less noise compared to previous generations. With these additions, the airline’s A320neo fleet will grow to eight aircraft.

A320neo Fleet Development

The airline marked a historic milestone on November 1, 2023, when it welcomed its first brand-new A320neo directly from the Airbus facility in Toulouse. This delivery represented the first time Brussels Airlines had received factory-new aircraft since its founding.

Currently operating five A320neos, the airline plans to integrate three more by summer 2026. Two of these aircraft will replace older A319 models, while the third will support fleet expansion.

Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO of Brussels Airlines, emphasizes the multiple benefits of this investment: “Adding brand-new aircraft creates a triple advantage. We’re reducing our environmental impact by choosing the market’s most fuel-efficient aircraft.”

“Our fleet expansion generates new jobs and enhances Belgium’s connectivity. Plus, the A320neo delivers an exceptional experience for both passengers and crew, featuring upgraded cabins, quieter operation, and expanded hand luggage space.”

Environmental performance stands at the heart of Brussels Airlines’ fleet renewal strategy. The A320neo’s efficiency improvements are even more pronounced when replacing the smaller A319 aircraft.

The changeover achieves up to 30% reduced emissions per passenger. This environmental benefit combines with a 50% reduction in noise pollution.

A320neo Passenger Comfort

The A320neo significantly improves the travel experience. Beyond the dramatically reduced noise levels, passengers enjoy newly designed cabins with ergonomic seating.

The aircraft features adaptive cabin lighting that adjusts to match the time of day, helping travelers feel more refreshed upon arrival. Storage capacity has also been enhanced, with overhead bins 40% larger than previous models.

The new aircraft are scheduled to join the fleet in the first half of 2026, though global supply chain challenges may affect this timeline.

Sustainable Growth Strategy

Brussels Airlines is the flag carrier and largest airline of Belgium, headquartered at Brussels Airport. It operates a network of over 100 destinations in Europe, North America, and Africa. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance and is known for its focus on African destinations.

Brussels Airlines has achieved a stable financial foundation that enables profitable operations and future investments. The acquisition of new aircraft demonstrates this strategic success in action.

Each A320neo accommodates 180 passengers and serves short- and medium-haul routes. The airline is also expanding its long-haul capabilities, with three additional Airbus A330s planned for the coming years. Furthermore, Brussels Airlines is investing over 100 million euros to completely renovate its long-haul fleet interiors, ensuring a premium travel experience across its network.
