British Airways Flight London-Edinburgh Declares Emergency

British Airways flight CFE5C from London City (LCY) has declared an emergency, squawking code 7700 whilst en route to Edinburgh (EDI).

A British Airways BA Cityflyer regional flight between London and Edinburgh has declared an emergency whilst en route.

British Airways flight CFE5C declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst in transit over northern England.

BA Cityflyer flight CFE5C declared a general emergency whilst approaching Edinburgh in the cruise at FL360 (36,000 feet).

The nature of the problem prompting the emergency declaration is not yet known.

Having expedited its descent and arrival into Edinburgh (EDI), the flight is presently passing through 2,000 feet on its approach.

British Airways flight CFE5C from London City Airport (LCY) has now landed at the destination Edinburgh Airport (EDI) on RWY24.

The flight declared an emergency earlier this morning whilst approaching Edinburgh.

Flight Details

Flight data shows that British Airways regional service CFE5C departed from London City Airport (LCY) at 07:47 local time this morning.

The flight set course normally and climbed to flight level FL360 for the northerly service to Scotland.

Flight crew then selected transponder code 7700 as the aircraft passed over the British midlands en route, at 08:19 local time.

The aircraft had just commenced its initial descent at the time, and continued descent and an expedited approach followed.

Flight CFE5C was conducted this morning by an Embraer ERJ-190, registered G-LCYR, a 12-year old regional aircraft operated by British Airways subsidiary BA Cityflyer.
