A British Airways flight operating from London to Barcelona declared an emergency as it approached the destination on 19 August 2024.
British Airways flight BA476, an Airbus A319-100 operating from London Heathrow airport (LHR) declared an emergency as it transited Spanish airspace on approach to Barcelona El Prat airport (BCN).

According to the online source Flight Emergency, a medical emergency on board sparked the emergency call. Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 as the aircraft continued its descent. The flight was then given priority for the subsequent approach and landing.

Flight data shows that the flight BA476 made a departure out of London Heathrow at 1653 local time on 19 August. The flight then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL390 (39,000 feet) for the southerly service to Spain.
Descent and early approach for the scheduled arrival was similarly conducted normally. The flight crew subsequently squawked transponder code 7700 passing through FL300 at 1710 UTC.
The aircraft then continued with an expedited descent and approach procedure to Barcelona El Prat airport, where it landed without incident.
