UPDATE #2 @ 1418 UK time – BA2681 is passing through 4,000 feet and is getting ready for a fast emergency landing into Bordeaux.

EMERGENCY UPDATE #3 @ 1422 UK time – British Airways flight BA2681 from Ibiza to London Gatwick, which declared an emergency, is now on final approach into Bordeaux.


TOUCHDOWN!

UPDATE #4 @ 1425 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! The aircraft has appeared to have touched down safely into Bordeaux following the emergency call a few moments ago.

Furthermore, it is understood that G-GATN is the aircraft involved in the incident.

As per Planespotters, here are the details on the aircraft below:

G-GATN is a 22.9 year old Airbus A320ceo that started out life with TAM Linhas Aereas in November 2001.

Furthermore, by July 2015, the aircraft was sent to the UK carrier after lessor GECAS held on to the aircraft from November 2014.

In May 2023, the aircraft was handed over to their subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, where it has been since.


UPDATE #5 @ 1428 UK time – At this stage, the cause of the emergency is unclear.

As soon as we have more information pertinent to the cause, then we will update you accordingly.
