British Airways Expands Winter Schedule in Riga

British Airways will boost its services to Riga to a daily scheduling this coming winter season, operating a mix of A320 and A321 aircraft.

British Airways, the UK’s national carrier, is set to operate a daily service between Riga Airport (RIX) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) starting this winter season.

This increased frequency, from three to seven flights a week, offers a significant boost for both travelers and the Latvian tourism industry.

The latest announcement comes after a successful launch of their previous winter flights.

Passengers can now book their winter 2024 flights on BA.com, with fares starting at a budget-friendly 90 EUR (return).

The daily service kicks off on Monday, October 28th, 2024. Passengers will enjoy a comfortable journey aboard a mix of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.

Enhanced Connections and Growth Potential

Riga Airport (RIX) is delighted with British Airways’ commitment to this crucial route. “We are grateful for their confidence in its growth potential,” says Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board at RIX.

“The daily flights and improved connection times will significantly expand travel options through London Heathrow to destinations across North America, Asia, and beyond.”

Odiņa also acknowledges the valuable collaboration with the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency (RITA) in promoting Riga as a top travel destination for British Airways’ extensive network.

British Airways echoes the enthusiasm. “We’re thrilled to increase flights on this popular route,” says Emil Delibashev, Regional Commercial Manager.

“Customers can now leverage our extensive network from London Heathrow, making it easier to explore the UK, USA, and other exciting destinations.”

Delibashev emphasizes the importance of this route within British Airways’ investment strategy in new products, services, and technology.

Marketing Success Since October Resumption

The successful partnership between British Airways and RITA is a key factor in the rapid increase of flights.

“Since flights resumed last October, we’ve established a strong marketing collaboration with British Airways,” says Fredis Bikovs, Director of RITA. “This cooperation, along with the daily service and US connections, will significantly boost Riga’s appeal to international tourists.”

Bikovs highlights plans for joint marketing campaigns throughout the summer and winter seasons to reach an even wider audience of travelers.
