A British Airways Airbus A380 operating a service to Miami, FL returned to London after reporting an engine oil leak on 6 November 2024.
British Airways flight BA207, operated by an Airbus A380-800, had conducted a departure out of London Heathrow Airport. The aircraft was conducting a scheduled long-haul service bound for Miami International Airport (MIA).

Following departure, the flight had set course and was on climb over the English Channel when flight crew reported an engine issue. The problem was described as an oil leak emanating from one engine.
As a result, flight crew terminated the climb and entered a holding pattern off the English south coast. The aircraft then dumped fuel to permit a return to London Heathrow.
A return to the origin airport was then conducted and the aircraft landed on runway 27R London Heathrow Airport. The flight landed approximately 3.5 hours after its initial departure.
The scheduled service to Florida and the planned return service was cancelled as a result of the unserviceability.
Flight data shows that flight BA207 had made a delayed departure out of London Heathrow Airport. Departure time was logged as 1048 local time, against a scheduled departure time of 0950 local time.
Following departure, the flight had climbed to FL130 (13,000 feet) before flight crew terminated the climb procedure. A holding pattern was then entered to the south of Portsmouth over the English Channel.
The aircraft conducting the BA207 rotation to Miami was an Airbus A380-800, registered G-XLEC. This in an 11.6 year old widebody aircraft owned by the national carrier British Airways. It has been in operational service since its initial delivery from the factory in October 2013.
