In a move set to significantly benefit Brazilian air travelers, Azul and GOL airlines announced a new commercial cooperation agreement today.
This partnership will connect their domestic flight networks through a codeshare program, offering passengers a wider range of travel options and smoother connections.
The agreement focuses on routes operated exclusively by one carrier, meaning those not currently served by both airlines.
Customers will have access to extensive flight connectivity with over 150 destinations. Additionally, they choose in which program to accumulate points from codeshare flights.
Passenger Benefits
Flyers enrolled in Azul’s “Azul Fidelidade” and GOL’s “Smiles” frequent flyer programs can also rejoice – the partnership allows them to earn points towards their preferred program when booking flights on codeshare routes.
“This collaboration brings tremendous advantages for our customers,” said Azul president Abhi Shah.
“Both Azul and GOL share a commitment to excellence in Brazilian aviation and customer service.”
“By combining Azul’s extensive network reaching most Brazilian cities with GOL’s strong presence in major markets, we can provide passengers with the most comprehensive selection of travel options available.”
Benefits for travelers kick in later this June, when the codeshare flights become bookable through both airlines’ sales channels.
Access to Domestic Routes
Passengers can expect access to hundreds of new domestic routes with improved connection options.
Imagine traveling from Brasília to Tabatinga with a quick stopover in Manaus, or flying from Rio de Janeiro to Marabá with a convenient connection in Belém. These are just a few examples of the enhanced travel experiences this partnership enables.
“GOL and Azul have a long history of dedication to growth within the Brazilian aviation sector,” said GOL CEO Celso Ferrer.
“This codeshare agreement directly translates to more travel choices for our customers throughout the country.”
“With GOL’s existing network of over 60 codeshare agreements with international partners, we’re thrilled to bring similar benefits to domestic travel in Brazil.”
Together, Azul and GOL boast an impressive network with approximately 1,500 daily departures.
This new cooperation unlocks over 2,700 new travel possibilities with just a single connection. The networking agreement makes it easier for Brazilians to explore their vast and beautiful country.
