The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has granted R$ 2.1 billion in financing to support Embraer’s export of 16 E-175 aircraft.

The recipient, Republic Airways, is a North American airline that exclusively operates Embraer aircraft.

Through the BNDES Exim Post-Boarding program, this financing will support a portion of the total investment. Embraer will deliver the aircraft throughout 2025, with Republic Airways making dollar-denominated payments to BNDES, generating foreign currency revenue for Brazil.

About Republic Airways

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Republic Airways has established itself as a cornerstone of regional aviation in North America.

Founded in 1974 as Chautauqua Airlines, the company has grown into one of the largest regional airlines in the United States. It maintains a fleet exceeding 200 Embraer E-170 and E-175 aircraft.

The airline provides regular passenger service through 900 daily flights across more than 80 cities in the United States and Canada. It operates under American Eagle, Delta Connection, and United Express brands.

Republic Airways employs over 6,000 aviation professionals and has consistently demonstrated its commitment to Embraer’s aircraft technology through multiple fleet expansion initiatives.

Francisco Gomes Neto, Embraer’s President and CEO, also offered comment. “BNDES support remains crucial for maintaining Brazilian industry competitiveness, serving as a catalyst for our international market presence.”

“This strategic backing strengthens our global position by diversifying financing options and enabling us to compete effectively with international rivals.”

BNDES Support for Embraer

Since initiating its support for Embraer in 1997, BNDES has provided approximately US$ 26 billion in financing for over 1,300 aircraft exports.

These operations have enabled Embraer to compete internationally on equal footing with competitors, complementing private market financing.

José Luís Gordon, BNDES Director of Productive Development, Innovation and Foreign Trade, commented on this year’s first major transaction.

“Starting 2025 by supporting Embraer in this significant deal reinforces our national industry’s international presence and contributes substantially to Brazil’s trade balance, aligning with President Lula’s goal of increasing manufactured goods exports.”

Embraer, a Brazil-based global aerospace company, operates across commercial aviation, executive aviation, Defense & Security, and agricultural aviation sectors. The company’s operations encompass aircraft and systems design, development, manufacturing, and marketing, along with comprehensive customer support services.
