Binter Airlines has seen the launch of a new, twice-weekly direct route connecting Granada Airport (GRX) and Tenerife North Airport – La Laguna City (TFN).
This route addition complements the airline’s existing four weekly flights between Granada and Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), established in March 2023.
The expansion significantly boosts connectivity between these vibrant regions.
The 30 March inaugural flight departed Tenerife North Airport at 4:40 p.m., arriving at Granada Airport. The return flight took off from Granada at 8:35 p.m., touching down back in Tenerife at 10:10 p.m.
This initial service marked the beginning of a promising partnership, fostering stronger ties between the Canary Islands and mainland Spain.
Inaugural Granada-Tenerife Service
Key figures celebrated this milestone, emphasizing its importance for regional development. The President of the Granada Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez was joined by the Sub-Delegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata.
Representing tourism was the Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Tenerife Island Council, Lope Afonso.
Airport Director Pedro Pablo Alonso and Binter’s Deputy Director of Sales and Digital Business, Francisco Javier Hernández represented the aviation sector.
Hernández highlighted Binter’s dedication to growing its presence in the appealing destination of Granada, while also introducing new direct routes from Tenerife to other parts of Spain.

Rodríguez expressed his support for the new connection. “This new route is wonderful news for our province, for its connection to other parts of Spain, for the growth of its airport, and for the promotion of tourism.”
He further emphasized the route’s potential to “reinforce the province’s air connectivity and will allow Granada to double the number of travelers from the Canary Islands.”
A Boost to Tourism
Plata underscored the significance of the new route for Santa Cruz de Tenerife, particularly for the tourism sector and domestic tour operators. He also noted the importance of balancing operations between the island’s north and south.
“These new Binter routes are a great opportunity… especially for those destinations and tour operators that primarily serve domestic tourists.” He added that the improvements implemented by the State will lead to “more competitive airports, where we can continue expanding routes, exploring new connections.”
‘Above all, it will provide improvements so that our visitors receive better service.” Plata also highlighted the new business opportunities between Granada and Tenerife’s business sector, expressing pride in Binter’s Canarian roots.

Afonso emphasized the crucial role of air connectivity in Tenerife’s development, stating, “Air connectivity is a fundamental pillar for the development of Tenerife. Today we celebrate excellent news: the opening of the new Binter route that connects us with Granada.”
He added that the route “not only facilitates travel between the two territories, but also opens up new opportunities in the tourism, cultural, and economic spheres.”
Afonso further stated that “Granada and Tenerife share a rich heritage, a diverse tourist offering, and a strong identity. Now, with this direct route, we are strengthening ties that will benefit both our residents and our visitors.”
Six Weekly Flights to the Canary Islands
The new service will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, complementing the existing four weekly flights to Gran Canaria. This schedule results in a total of six weekly connections between Granada and the Canary Islands, offering travelers increased flexibility and convenience.
On Thursdays, flights depart Tenerife at 3:45 p.m., landing in Granada at 7:00 p.m., with the return flight departing at 7:40 p.m. and arriving back in Tenerife at 9:15 p.m. On Sundays, flights depart for Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport (GRX) at 4:40 p.m., and the return flights to Tenerife depart at 8:35 p.m.

E195-E2 Premium Service
Passengers traveling on this Binter route can expect a superior travel experience. The airline utilizes Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, renowned for their quiet, clean, and efficient performance.
The aircraft’s configuration ensures ample legroom and the absence of middle seats, enhancing passenger comfort.
Binter’s commitment to customer satisfaction extends to its onboard service, which includes complimentary gourmet snacks for all passengers.
Furthermore, the airline facilitates connections for domestic travelers, linking these flights with its extensive inter-island network within the Canary Islands. With over 220 daily flights across the archipelago, passengers can easily reach all the islands for a single fare.
Binter also offers valuable travel options like Discover, a stopover service that allows passengers to visit two islands for a minimal additional cost. Its AirPass Explorer provides multiple island hops in conjunction with an international or domestic round-trip ticket.
This new route between Granada and Tenerife North furthers Binter Airlines’ dedication to enhancing regional connectivity.
