Avelo Airlines will launch a new route to Atlanta, reinstate three popular Florida flights and base a second aircraft at Philadelphia Region’s Wilmington Airport.
This expansion enables Avelo to significantly expand its convenient, affordable and reliable air service in the Delaware Valley.
Wilmington Airport Operations Boost
Avelo Airlines has announced a significant expansion at Wilmington Airport (ILG), the Philadelphia / Delaware Valley region’s premier airport. On the network front, the airline will add a new service to Atlanta and bring back flights to three popular Florida destinations.
Additionally, Avelo will base a second aircraft at ILG, allowing for increased convenient, affordable, and reliable air service in the Delaware Valley. Starting in early November, Avelo will operate these routes twice weekly using Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. One-way fares from ILG start at just $46.
This expansion follows last month’s announcement of nonstop service to Charlotte / Concord, N.C. (USA) and Orlando / Lakeland (LAL) in Central Florida. With these additions, Avelo now offers 13 routes from ILG.
Stakeholder Comments
Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO, expressed pride in the airline’s growth at ILG. He highlighted customer satisfaction with the convenience, affordability, and reliability of flying Avelo from ILG. Levy also thanked community leaders and ILG Crewmembers for their support.
Thomas J. Cook, DRBA Executive Director, welcomed the expansion as a win for the community. He noted the return of the popular Daytona Beach route. He went on to emphasize how the second based aircraft would ultimately create more destinations and jobs for local residents.

Wilmington Airport: A Convenient Alternative
Located just south of Philadelphia, Wilmington Airport offers a fast, smooth, and simple alternative to larger airports.
Its proximity to major highways and railways makes it the most convenient option for travelers in the Philadelphia / Delaware Valley area, which includes parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Jersey, and northern Maryland.
Avelo’s presence at ILG has grown significantly since February 2023. The airline now employs over 100 crewmembers and operates two aircraft. To date, the carrier has flown more than 400,000 customers on nearly 3,000 flights from the airport.
Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown over 5.2 million customers on over 40,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 54 destinations spanning 24 states, Puerto Rico and two international countries: Jamaica and Mexico.
