Avelo Airlines has further expanded its service offering by launching its second international destination. The airline will introduce a new nonstop service between Bradley International Airport in Hartford and Cancun, Mexico.

The airline will operate this route twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, utilizing its Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. The launch of the new international service comes in the wake of recent domestic route additions at Bradley International.

Expansion at Bradley International Airport

This month represents a pivotal moment of growth for Avelo, with six new routes added at Bradley International Airport. The airline’s strategic expansion includes destinations spanning North Carolina, with routes to Charlotte/Concord and Wilmington, Florida destinations like Daytona Beach and Orlando/Lakeland, and a connection to Houston.

Adding depth to its international portfolio, the airline recently inaugurated its first international route to Montego Bay, Jamaica. The move signaled a bolder approach to network development.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy articulated the strategic importance of this international service expansion. “Our commitment to providing more choices for our customers drives every decision,” Levy explained.

“As the only airline currently offering nonstop service to Mexico from Connecticut, we’re revolutionizing travel by making destinations like Cancun, Tulum, and Cozumel more accessible and affordable for travelers across the region.”

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont endorsed the airline’s growth trajectory, highlighting how Avelo’s expansion significantly elevates Bradley International Airport’s reputation.

By transforming the airport into a more dynamic transportation hub, Avelo is repositioning Connecticut as an increasingly attractive destination for travelers.

Strategic Connecticut Presence

Demonstrating a profound commitment to the region, Avelo has established dual operations at Bradley International Airport, initially positioning two aircraft in Hartford.

This strategic investment highlights the airline’s dedication to providing convenient and affordable air service throughout Connecticut. The airline’s operational foundation remains centered in New Haven, where nearly 300 dedicated crew members support eight aircraft serving an impressive 27 nonstop destinations.
