Delta Air Lines is heating winter up with its most extensive Latin American and Caribbean schedule ever from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). The airline will add services to Aruba and St. Maarten this winter.
The airline is introducing new routes to sun-soaked destinations and also increasing service to popular tropical getaways. It offers Midwest travelers an unprecedented array of options to escape the cold for the winter season.
New Destinations on the Horizon
Delta is adding two exciting new destinations to its winter line-up from MSP: Aruba and St. Maarten. These additions bring a fresh burst of Caribbean flavor to Delta’s already impressive roster of tropical offerings.
Aruba flights will operate on Fridays and Sundays, perfect for long weekend getaways or week-long vacations.
Visitors to this Dutch Caribbean gem can look forward to pristine beaches like Eagle Beach, world-class snorkeling at Baby Beach, and the rugged beauty of Arikok National Park. After dark, Oranjestad’s vibrant nightlife beckons.
St. Maarten joins the schedule with flights on Thursdays and Saturdays. This unique island, split between Dutch and French governance, offers a rich cultural tapestry for travelers to explore.
From the bustling Marigot Market to the culinary delights of Grand Case, there’s something for every taste. Thrill-seekers can enjoy water sports at Orient Bay, while nature lovers can tackle scenic hiking trails.
Enhancing Existing Caribbean Connections
Delta isn’t just adding new destinations; it’s also beefing up service to existing favorites. Grand Cayman sees an increase to three weekly flights, while San Juan, Puerto Rico, gets a significant boost to ten weekly trips.
These enhancements provide more flexibility for travelers and underscore Delta’s commitment to these beloved destinations.
The airline has also recently announced new service to Mazatlán, Mexico, further expanding its Latin American footprint and giving travelers yet another sunny option for winter escapes.
A Network of Tropical Possibilities
With these additions and enhancements, Delta’s winter schedule from MSP is truly impressive. The airline will operate 126 weekly flights, offering over 20,000 seats to 15 stunning tropical destinations.
This includes longtime favorites like Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Liberia in Costa Rica, and Montego Bay in Jamaica.
Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, emphasized the significance of this expansion.
“As the leading carrier from MSP to Latin America and the Caribbean, we’re thrilled to offer our customers even more choices for their winter getaways.”
“The addition of Aruba, St. Maarten, and Mazatlán gives travelers three brand-new sunny destinations to explore.”
The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which owns and operates MSP, is equally excited about the expanded offerings.
CEO Brian Ryks noted, “The continued surge in international travel has been a key trend for MSP in recent years.”
“These new flights give Upper Midwest travelers their largest-ever range of options to Latin America and the Caribbean. It’s the perfect time to start planning that winter escape.”
MSP Travel Experience
The airline recently unveiled its third and largest Delta Sky Club at MSP, featuring seating for over 450 guests and a first-of-its-kind Sky Deck.
This provides a comfortable and luxurious start to any tropical getaway.
On board, passengers can expect a premium experience regardless of their chosen cabin. The Aruba and St. Maarten routes will be served by Boeing 757-200 aircraft, offering First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin options.
First Class passengers will enjoy chef-curated meals and complimentary premium beverages, while all travelers can access over 1,000 hours of entertainment via Delta Studio, in-seat power, and free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members.
SkyMiles members have even more to look forward to with Delta’s new personalized seatback screens.
This update brings a smart TV-like experience to the air, along with useful day-of-travel tools designed to streamline the journey.
For those looking to plan a complete vacation, Delta Vacations offers bundled packages including flights, accommodations, activities, and transportation.
SkyMiles members can earn Medallion Status credit on all components of their trip, plus bonus miles, and even use miles to offset the cost of their vacation.
As winter approaches, Delta’s expanded tropical offerings from MSP provide an enticing escape for sun-seekers.
Whether it’s a new adventure in Aruba or St. Maarten, or a return to a Caribbean favorite, Delta is making it easier than ever for Midwest travelers to trade snow for sand this winter season.
