Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR), a pioneer in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi aircraft, unveiled plans for a new air mobility network. This will connect key locations across the San Francisco Bay Area from a hub at Kilroy Oyster Point.
The proposed network will span South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore. The development promises to revolutionize travel by slashing commutes and offering unprecedented connectivity.
Imagine ditching your one-to-two-hour car journeys and replacing them with swift 10-20 minute flights!
Archer Aviation has now partnered with Kilroy Realty Corporation (NYSE: KRC), a leading U.S. developer, to make it a reality.
Launchpad at Kilroy Oyster Point
Kilroy, known for its 18 million square foot portfolio and commitment to sustainability, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Archer.
This MOU paves the way for a vertiport at Kilroy Oyster Point. This is a vibrant mixed-use campus in the heart of the Bay Area’s biotech hub.
Archer’s planned Bay Area network features takeoff and landing locations in South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore.
This vertiport will serve as a crucial launchpad, connecting to the other planned vertiports. These will be in Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore, where Archer already collaborates with infrastructure and operations partners.
The network’s impact will bring a new travel dynamic to the area. It unlocks a new era of accessibility for Bay Area residents and visitors. It will mean streamlined connection to people, places, and events throughout the region.
Bryan Bernhard, Archer’s Chief Growth & Infrastructure Officer offered comment on the planned development.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with Kilroy to develop the infrastructure for Archer’s air mobility service.”
“Kilroy’s vision in recognizing our mobility service as a unique amenity for their properties is truly commendable.”
Sea Portal Development
Kilroy’s reputation for sustainability aligns perfectly with Archer’s mission. This collaboration positions Kilroy to become the first U.S. developer to integrate eVTOL operations, offering tenants unparalleled sustainable transportation options.
The planned “Sea Portal” at Kilroy Oyster Point exemplifies this commitment. This waterfront mobility hub will combine electric ferry services with Archer’s eVTOL operations, powered by renewable energy.
“We’re excited to explore adding Archer’s eVTOL service to Kilroy Oyster Point,” shared Angela Aman, Kilroy Chief Executive Officer.
“This innovative and sustainable solution has the potential to transform convenience for our tenants, further solidifying Kilroy Oyster Point’s position within the South San Francisco market.”
With an initial launch targeted for Kilroy Oyster Point by the end of 2025, the two companies are also exploring expansion into other Kilroy locations.
