The hacktivist group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX), a Miami-based charter airline.

The attack targeted a subdomain of GlobalX’s website, defacing it with a bold message accusing the airline of ignoring judicial orders related to its role in U.S. deportation flights.

This incident has sparked widespread attention, raising questions about cybersecurity, corporate accountability, and the ethics of deportation operations.

The GlobalX Cyberattack

Anonymous, a decentralized collective known for its politically motivated cyberattacks, confirmed that it defaced GlobalX’s website. The group left a statement criticizing the airline’s involvement in deportation flights for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The message, verified by TechCrunch and 404 Media, read as follows. “Anonymous has decided to enforce the Judge’s order since you and your sycophant staff ignore lawful orders that go against your fascist plans.”

The hackers restored the website shortly after the cyberattack, but the damage was done.

As well as the defacement, Anonymous claimed to have stolen sensitive data, including flight manifests, passenger lists, and operational details.

This data, covering deportation flights from January 19 to May 1, 2025, revealed critical information such as deportee identities, flight dates, and destinations.

For instance, records showed Venezuelans being deported to El Salvador. The hackers shared this data with journalists, including 404 Media, which confirmed its authenticity.

Why Target GlobalX?

GlobalX has been a key player in the Trump administration’s deportation efforts, operating charter flights to deport migrants, particularly Venezuelans.

A recent judicial ruling ordered a halt to certain deportation flights, which Anonymous accused GlobalX of disregarding. The hacktivists framed their attack as a response to this alleged non-compliance, aiming to expose the airline’s operations and hold it accountable.

The leaked data sheds light on the scale of GlobalX’s deportation activities, revealing daily flight records and passenger details.

This breach not only compromises operational security but also raises privacy concerns for deportees, whose personal information is now exposed.

Anonymous: A History of Hacktivism

Anonymous has a long history of targeting entities they view as corrupt or oppressive. From government agencies to corporations, their cyberattacks often aim to expose wrongdoing or spark public debate.

Recently, the group has criticized the Trump administration and claimed responsibility for other high-profile attacks, including a 10TB data leak targeting Russian networks. The GlobalX hack aligns with their pattern of using cyber tactics to challenge powerful institutions.

The Fallout and Implications

While GlobalX’s website is now restored, the breach has significant consequences. The exposure of sensitive data could lead to legal and ethical scrutiny for the airline.

This is particularly so with regards to its role in controversial deportation policies. The incident also highlights the vulnerability of corporate systems to politically motivated cyberattacks.

For now, GlobalX has not issued a public statement addressing the breach. However, the leaked data circulating among journalists ensures that this story will continue to unfold.

As Anonymous continues its campaign against perceived injustices, companies like GlobalX must brace for heightened scrutiny and potential further attacks.

Conclusion

The GlobalX hack serves as a reminder of the growing intersection between cybersecurity and political activism.

As deportation policies remain a contentious issue, Anonymous’s actions may inspire further debate about the role of private companies in government operations.

For GlobalX, rebuilding trust and securing its systems will be critical moving forward.
