An ANA Wings the Havilland Dash 8-400 outbound to the Kagoshima, Japan made a precautionary return to Osaka after sustaining a cracked windshield on 21 October 2024.
ANA Wings flight NH551, operated by a de Havilland Dash 8-400 had conducted the departure from Osaka International Airport (ITM). The aircraft was operating a scheduled service to the Kagoshima Airport (KOJ).

Whilst the aircraft was en route in cruising flight, flight crew reported that the aircraft had sustained a cracked right hand windshield assembly. With the aircraft less than 100 nautical miles to the west of Osaka, flight crew made the decision to conduct a precautionary return to the origin airport.
The aircraft subsequently landed without further incident at Osaka International Airport approximately one hour after its initial departure.

Flight data shows that the flight NH551 had made an on-time departure out of Osaka at 1959 local time on 21 October.
The flight had been set course normally, climbing to flight level FL210 for the westerly service to Kagoshima. The aircraft was in cruising flight en route when the diversion and return was initiated.

The aircraft has been in service with the parent carrier since its initial delivery from the factory in July 2003.
