American will expand its European network in summer 2025 with a focus on additional routes to Italy.
American Airlines will be enhancing its Italian travel options with new direct flights to Venice and Naples, plus increased service to Rome (FCO). The new scheduling is expected to start from May 2025.
The expansion marks a significant commitment to connecting travelers with Italy’s most beloved destinations, offering unprecedented access to the country’s diverse experiences.
Italy as a Summer Favorite
The enhanced schedule sees American Airlines meeting increasing demand for European travel while offering customers more choices and flexibility in their travel planning.
“Italy remains a top summer destination, and we’re making it simpler for travelers to explore their favorite Italian cities,” said Brian Znotins, Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning at American.
“From Rome’s ancient wonders to Mediterranean coastal retreats, our expanded network helps travelers create their perfect Italian adventure, whether they’re seeking cultural experiences, culinary delights, or seaside relaxation.”
Travelers can book these new flights starting November 4 through aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app, with competitive fares across all service classes.
American Airlines Presence in Italy
American Airlines will become the sole carrier offering nonstop Chicago (ORD) to Naples flights in 2025, building on their successful NAP service launch this year.
As the U.S. airline providing the most seats to Naples, American offers unparalleled access to the region. On offer is authentic Italian cuisine, ancient history, and the stunning Amalfi Coast.
This exclusive route opens up new possibilities for Midwest travelers seeking direct access to Southern Italy’s charm.
Starting June 5, American introduces its first-ever direct Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice route. This will mark a historic expansion of service to the floating city.
Combined with existing Philadelphia (PHL) service, travelers from over 230 North American locations can reach Venice with just one connection. This will make the city’s iconic canals, architecture, and cultural attractions more accessible than ever.
Rome becomes more accessible with enhanced summer flights from Miami (MIA) and Philadelphia. The new Miami-Rome service will now begin in June. This is earlier than the previously announced July start, catering to summer travelers planning early season visits.
Philadelphia will offer two daily summer flights to Rome, supplementing its year-round daily service. This makes American the leading U.S. carrier serving Rome. It offers travelers maximum scheduling flexibility and convenience for exploring the Eternal City.
Wider European Network
Through strategic partnerships, American’s network extends even further across Europe. The airline will increase service to partner hubs in 2025. It will add daily flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami to London (LHR) and launching Chicago-Madrid (MAD) service.
These partnerships enable seamless connections to over 175 European destinations, allowing travelers to craft multi-city itineraries with ease.
Recent network updates also include resumed Edinburgh (EDI) service and additional flights to Athens (ATH) and Milan (MXP) in the coming year, further strengthening American’s European presence.
These expansions reflect the airline’s commitment to providing comprehensive travel options for both leisure and business travelers seeking to explore Europe’s diverse destinations.
