Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced the successful maiden flight of its new G400 aircraft. This first proving flight now marks the beginning of the formal flight test program for the new aircraft.
The addition of the new variant also expands Gulfstream’s lineup of cutting-edge, next-generation aircraft. The G400 sets a new benchmark in its class, offering unparalleled performance and comfort.
Maiden Flight 15 August
The inaugural flight took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:04 a.m. and landed 2 hours and 54 minutes later.
During the flight, the G400 reached a speed of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters). The aircraft used a sustainable aviation fuel blend from Gulfstream’s Savannah facility for this mission.
G400 Specs
Featuring Gulfstream’s aerodynamic clean wing design, advanced Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines, and state-of-the-art avionics, the G400 delivers exceptional performance and efficiency.
It boasts a range of 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 kilometers) at Mach 0.85. The aircraft is equipped with Gulfstream’s award winning Symmetry Flight Deck and Predictive Landing Performance System, improving flight safety and pilot awareness.
Customers can choose from three floorplans, accommodating up to 9, 11, or 12 passengers. The G400 offers the renowned Gulfstream Cabin Experience, featuring:
- 100% fresh, purified air
- Lowest cabin altitude in its class
- Natural light from 10 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows
The Global Range
Gulfstream offers a diverse lineup of large cabin, long range business jets known as the Global series.
These aircraft are designed to meet the needs of high-end corporate and private customers who require ultimate luxury, performance, and range. The current Global jet range includes:
- G500: A versatile jet with a range of 5,300 nautical miles and a maximum speed of Mach 0.925.
- G600: Offering extended range capabilities of 6,600 nautical miles and similar high speed performance to the G500.
- G650: One of Gulfstream’s flagship models, capable of flying 7,000 nautical miles non-stop at Mach 0.85.
- G650ER: An extended range version of the G650, with an impressive 7,500 nautical mile range.
- G700: Gulfstream’s newest ultra-long-range jet, boasting a 7,500 nautical mile range and the industry’s largest cabin.
- G800: Currently in development, set to become Gulfstream’s longest range aircraft with a projected 8,000 nautical mile range.
These Global jets feature Gulfstream’s signature oval windows, advanced avionics, and customizable luxurious interiors. They are designed for intercontinental travel, allowing passengers to fly non-stop between major global cities in ultimate comfort.
