Ticket sales have gone live already for the new flights between Portland (PDX) and New Orleans (MSY) with Alaska Airlines.

Flights will begin in January 2025, with the scheduling as follows:

  • DEP PDX 0905 ARR MSY 1530
  • DEP MSY 1635 ARR PDX 1950

Services will operate with the airline’s Boeing 737 Family aircraft.

Kevin Dolliole, Director of Aviation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport said the following on this:

“We are thrilled that Alaska Airlines is launching nonstop service from New Orleans to Portland”.

“Portland has been the top unserved destination from New Orleans, and this new route not only strengthens the connection between our vibrant cities but also underscores our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our community and visitors alike.”

Adding to this was Dan Pippenger, chief aviation officer at the Port of Portland:

“Alaska’s continued investment in PDX is great news for our travel community.”

“Until now, New Orleans was one of the largest U.S. markets without a nonstop from PDX”.

“Tens of thousands of travelers already fly between these two great cities every year, and we expect that number to only grow with this new nonstop service.”

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning for Alaska Airlines commented on the operation:

As the largest carrier in Portland for more than 20 years, it’s important we continue to expand the nonstop destinations we offer our guests and give them choices when planning their next trip”.

“We can’t wait to offer another convenient way to connect our guests along the West Coast to New Orleans, a city rich in history and culture.”

The Portland operation for Alaska Airlines has seen routes to the likes of Nashville, as well as upcoming service to Atlanta in October.

More and more flights are being added by the airline.

Furthermore, their recent expansion means they now offer 100+ daily departures from PDX.

Destinations for that include the likes of Anchorage, Reno, Ontario, Santa Rosa & others.

In conclusion, it remains clear that the addition of Portland-New Orleans flights is part of Alaska Airlines’ success out of PDX.

Many routes have been launched or are due to be inaugurated from the West Coast airport by the airline.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether anymore flights will be added throughout the Summer for a Winter start.

But for now, let’s see how the airline performs over the second half of this year.
