Alaska Airlines has officially opened its newest Alaska Lounge at San Francisco International Airport’s Harvey Milk Terminal 1.
The impressive 11,000-square-foot space offers travelers a premium pre-flight experience with a distinct West Coast ambiance. It features expansive areas bathed in natural light and adorned with warm, inviting finishes.
Sangita Woerner, senior vice president of marketing and guest experience at Alaska Airlines, spoke on the inauguration.
“Our new SFO Lounge represents the culmination of over two years of dedicated effort to elevate our guest services.”
“We’ve created a space that truly redefines premium travel, offering top-tier amenities and a peaceful retreat from the airport bustle for Alaska travelers and those flying with our oneworld and global airline partners.”
SFO Lounge: Relaxed West Coast Ambiance
Upon entering the SFO Lounge, guests are greeted by a serene environment, worlds away from the typical airport atmosphere.
Visitors can indulge in handcrafted espresso drinks prepared by skilled baristas, or savor local craft beers and a selection of fine West Coast wines at the stylish, contemporary bar.
The space strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere for travelers to unwind before their flights.
For those looking to refuel, the Lounge offers a complimentary selection of food and beverages designed to satisfy diverse palates.
Popular options include the signature sourdough bread and spreads, as well as candy jars filled with local San Francisco Bay Area sweet treats.
A particular highlight is the made-to-order pancake machine, which has become such a beloved attraction that the Lounge now boasts two of these crowd-pleasers.
Design and Features
As Alaska’s largest Lounge in California, the space offers an impressive 55% more seating compared to the previous location in Terminal 2.
Thoughtful design ensures that nearly every seat has easy access to charging outlets. This allows guests to power up their devices effortlessly.
The Lounge features various seating areas catering to different needs, including spaces for travelers with just a few minutes to recharge. Signature Loungers are positioned by floor-to-ceiling windows, offering relaxation with a view.
In a first for Alaska Lounges, TalkBox® booths have been installed. These provide ultimate privacy for important calls or impromptu meetings.
Relocation to Harvey Milk T1
The grand opening of the SFO Alaska Lounge marks the completion of a substantial two-year, $30 million relocation project to Harvey Milk Terminal 1.
This move supports Alaska’s broader $3 billion investment strategy to enhance infrastructure and guest experience across its major West Coast hubs.
Just last month, Alaska Airlines officially began operations at Harvey Milk Terminal 1, introducing SFO’s first automated bag drop technology.
This innovative addition streamlines the travel experience and supports Alaska’s long-term goal of reducing congestion in airport lobbies.
The relocation positions Alaska as the largest carrier at the terminal, setting the stage for continued growth in San Francisco. The airline proudly serves approximately 5 million guests each year at SFO.
Summary
Alaska Airlines is currently rolling out the most extensive summer schedule in its history. The airline now offers the most flights of any carrier from SFO to major West Coast cities. This includes up to eleven daily flights to Seattle, six to Portland, and as many as seven to San Diego.
From SFO alone, Alaska and its partners offer over 130 weekly flights to 18 international destinations.
Travelers can experience the sophistication and comfort of the new Alaska Lounge at SFO by becoming a Lounge member. Alternatively, purchase a single-entry Lounge pass with a valid Alaska, oneworld, or global airline partner boarding pass.
A standard Lounge membership provides access to all Alaska-operated Lounges, including those in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, and Anchorage.
For even more options, the Lounge+ membership extends access to nearly 90 partner lounges worldwide.
