An Alaska Airlines flight bound for Seattle, WA from Columbus, OH diverted to Missoula. MT after suffering a cracked windshield on 11 October 2024.
Alaska Airlines flight AS345, operated by a Boeing 737-900, was en route to Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

Whilst en route in the cruise at approximately 100 nautical miles to the east of Missoula, the aircraft sustained a cracked windshield. As a precaution, flight crew elected to carry out a diversion to nearby Missoula International Airport (MSO).
The flight subsequently landed without further incident on runway 29 Missoula (MSO), just under 30 minutes after the diversion was initiated.
The airline mustered a replacement aircraft to carry out the onwards flight to Seattle Tacoma.

Flight data shows that Alaska Airlines flight AS345 had made an on-time departure from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) at 0849 local time on 11 October.
The flight had set course normally, climbing to flight level FL360 (36,000 feet) for the westerly service to Seattle.
The flight crew diverted the aircraft to Missoula while cruising at FL360. The aircraft conducting the AS345 service from Columbus was a Boeing 737-900ER, registered N288AK. This is a 6.4-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Alaska Airlines.
It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in May 2018. The airline operated the aircraft in a special livery, “Russell Wilson – Dream Big, Fly High,” in 2019-2020.
