LONDON – Chaos at Ghana Airports Company ensued today as the Managing Director, Yaw Kwakwa, found out from the media that he got sacked by the Transport Minister of the country.
Local Ghanaian media filmed the moment it happened, creating quite an awkward response from the now departing managing director.
A letter signed by the Transport Minister of Ghana, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated the following:
“His Excellency The President, per letter No. 0P S127/22/104, dated 31st January 2022, has directed the appointment of Mr. Yaw Kwakwa as Managing Director of the Ghana Airport’s Company Limited be terminated”.
The letter has not stated the reasons for his sacking, leaving questions in the air into why this is the case.
However, staff of the Ghana Airport Company Limited has called for the sacking of Kwakwa, deeming him incompetent back in October 2020.
The deputy managing director, John Dekyem Attafuah, has been made the interim until a successor can be named.
This is a developing story.
