Qantas Improves Punctuality

This week, Australian flag carrier, Qantas, has reported that May was the carrier’s best punctuality rate for quite some time.

This article will cover the details surrounding Qantas’ latest punctuality figures and what this means for the Australian flag carrier.

Qantas’ Best Punctuality in 17 Months

For the first time in 17 months, Qantas has achieved its best punctuality rate in 17 months. The latest government data is showing that they had achieved 80.6% of flights departed on time during the month of May. This figure represents both Qantas and QantasLink combined.

This figure is up from 79.9% in April and 78.2% in March. The figure meant that the carrier’s cancellation rate was 2.6% compared to April’s 2.3%. However, out of the major Australian airlines, Jetstar’s cancellation rate was the lower at 1.1%, their best figure in over three years.

Helping Qantas’ on-time rates, their new domestic boarding process that was rolled out in so far, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney being the latest this week adopting their new boarding process.

Passengers have welcomed the new process, with it being a more efficient and streamlined approach to boarding flights.

Commenting on their best punctuality rate in 17 months, Qantas Group Chief Customer & Digital Officer, Catriona Larritt, says. “We’ve been working hard to ensure our customers get to their destinations as quickly as possible and we are now closing in on the levels we had before the pandemic.”

“Our new group boarding process has been well received by travellers at Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth airports and this week it’s being rolled out in Sydney.”
