LONDON – On Monday 28 November, UK leisure airline Jet2 announced an investment and expansion at London Stansted Airport (STN), resulting in increased capacity to 11 destinations in the Balearics, Turkey, Greece and Croatia.
The announcement
In a statement issued by the UK leisure airline and company, Jet2, it was announced that the airline would be expanding its services from London Stansted Airport (STN) for the Summer season 2023. They intend operating an extra aircraft after securing all the slots to support their ongoing growth.
The addition of the 15th based aircraft makes Jet2.com and Jet2holidays the UK’s leading tour operator to the Mediterranean. Furthermore, this means Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate over 225 weekly flights to 42 destinations from Stansted.
The destinations seeing a service increase with the announced expansion are:
- Balearics – Ibiza & Mallorca
- Croatia – Split & Dubrovnik
- Greece – Crete (Chania & Heraklion), Kos, Kefalonia, Rhodes & Corfu
- Turkey – Dalaman
With the 2.1 million seats now on sale from London Stansted for the summer 23 season, it will total a 10% capacity increase compared to the summer season of this year (2022).
Jet2 statement
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Chief Executive Officer, Steve Happy, commented on the expansion, saying: “This expansion is the latest demonstration of our continued commitment to investing in our London Stansted operations.”
