LONDON – Last week the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer released a ‘teaser’ statement, announcing its brokering of a US$389 million-dollar deal with a mystery buyer.
This naturally raised speculations as to who the recipient airline might be, and that was most likely a part of Embraer’s strategy to stimulate further interest and focus.
The announcement last week outlined a delivery schedule of 2023 and 2024, though the purchaser remained undisclosed.
Apart from that, the only other hard clue dropped by Embraer at its first press release was simply that the undisclosed airline had “exciting new plans for future growth.”
Embraer have now confirmed that Spanish airline Binter is the customer of the most recent firm order for five E195-E2 aircraft.
The announcement last week outlined a delivery schedule of 2023 and 2024, though the purchaser remained undisclosed.
These aircraft will be added to the fleet of five jets already incorporated as of 2019 when Binter became the first European customer of the E195-E2. The list price value of the contract is US$389.4 million, which will be added to Embraer’s Q4 backlog.
Aircraft delivery schedule
The new general coordinator of Binter, Santiago Guerra, confirmed that the closed agreement exceeds 389 million dollars and that the first two units are scheduled to arrive in the Canary Islands in November 2023.
“A month later, in December, we will receive the other two and the last one, in April 2024”, he indicated.
“The experience acquired over the years confirms the excellent assessment that our customers make of this aircraft model, which fits very well with Binter’s longest routes and those with the highest volume of passengers, and the arrival of new jets will allow us to expand the offer of routes and destinations that we have right now,” he concluded.
