LONDON – British Airways (BA) has cancelled all short haul flights from London Heathrow (LHR) until midday UTC today. The airline says Long-haul flights, and their London Gatwick and London City are still operating, however, passengers may face delays.
The issues started on Friday. At the time, BA’s website and app also became inaccessible alongside aircraft related systems. The website is now accessible, and BA suggest passengers check their website for flight updates.
In a tweet, Heathrow Airport has said they’re supporting British Airways in fixing the issue.
There is ongoing disruption this morning due to @British_Airways technical issues which we are supporting them to resolve.

We request that passengers check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
This is the second time within two weeks that BA has faced issues. Passengers on Saturday 19th February were receiving emails telling them their bags couldn’t be offloaded from flights due to “operational constraints”.
In a further embarrassing event, a photo of a BA aircraft headed for maintenance surfaced, which showed it was still full of passengers’ bags.
This is outrageous by #BritishAirways

This aircraft turned up into the maintenance hangars. It's been since 19th February the bags have not been offloaded.
Aircraft has now been towed back to the terminal.

Effected BA customers are able to claim refunds for their flights or rebook free of charge.
British Airways say they “know we have let our customers down and we will do everything we can to make this up to them – but for now our focus is on getting as many customers and flights away as we can.”
