airBaltic has announced significant flight cancellations for summer 2025. 4,670 flights across its network will be affected due to extended engine maintenance delays from Pratt & Whitney.
This major disruption impacts the airline’s Airbus A220-300 fleet operations, requiring substantial schedule adjustments across all its primary bases in the Baltic region.
2025 Fleet Grounding & Scheduling Impact
The maintenance delays, which have become increasingly problematic for airlines worldwide operating similar aircraft, will leave several of airBaltic’s A220-300 aircraft grounded well into 2025.
This situation has compelled the carrier to make difficult decisions, including the cancellation of 19 routes and service reductions on 21 others. These widespread adjustments will affect approximately 67,160 passengers who had already made travel plans for the upcoming summer season.
Despite these significant challenges, airBaltic remains committed to maintaining comprehensive regional connectivity. The airline will continue serving more than 70 destinations, ensuring that the Baltic States maintain crucial links with major European cities and beyond.
This strategic approach aims to minimize the impact on the region’s business and leisure travelers while managing the constraints imposed by the maintenance situation.
The current disruption stems from broader industry-wide challenges, including persistent global supply chain disruptions and maintenance backlogs that have affected numerous airlines operating modern fuel-efficient aircraft.
airBaltic Actions & Customer Support
While airBaltic expresses deep regret over these unavoidable cancellations, they are implementing comprehensive support measures for affected passengers. The airline will offer flexible rebooking alternatives or complete refunds based on individual preferences.
Passengers whose travel plans are affected by these changes are urged to review their bookings through the “Manage My Booking” portal on airBaltic.com.
Through this platform, travelers can conveniently select alternative flights within the airline’s network or process refunds if preferred.
For additional assistance, the airBaltic Call Center stands ready to support passengers, while those who booked through third-party websites should contact their respective booking platforms.

airBaltic continues to maintain an extensive network of over 130 routes from its primary bases in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, with additional seasonal operations from Gran Canaria. Summary
The airline emphasizes its ongoing collaboration with Pratt & Whitney to address the maintenance delays and develop sustainable solutions for the future.
While working through these challenges, airBaltic maintains its focus on operational reliability and customer service. It will aim to minimize disruption to passengers’ travel plans while ensuring the highest standards of safety and service quality across its reduced network.
This situation highlights the complex interdependencies within the aviation industry and the significant impact that supply chain and maintenance issues can have on airline operations and passenger mobility.
airBaltic continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates to affected passengers as new information becomes available.
