Following a successful 2024, airBaltic is continuing its upward trajectory, achieving record-breaking passenger numbers and load factor in January 2025.
The Latvian airline carried 327,500 passengers last month, a strong 14% increase compared to January 2024.
This surge in passenger traffic is accompanied by a significant rise in load factor, reaching 75.4%, a 3.6 percentage point jump year-over-year. These impressive figures represent the highest January passenger traffic the airline has ever recorded.

Building on 2024 Performance
This strong start to 2025 builds upon airBaltic’s exceptional performance in 2024. The airline transported a record 8.3 million passengers and operated 73,300 flights throughout the year, including all passenger types and ACMI-out operations.
These preliminary 2024 results demonstrate that airBaltic has not only recovered from the pandemic but has significantly surpassed pre-pandemic levels, showcasing its robust growth and continued success.

“We are thrilled to see so many passengers choosing airBaltic,” says Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic. “This reinforces our position as the leading carrier in the region.”
“Our priority remains providing exceptional global connectivity from the Baltics to destinations worldwide, while continuously improving the travel experience for our passengers.”
airBaltic’s extensive network currently connects the Baltics to over 70 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
Operating from its hubs in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria, the airline offers more than 130 routes. This vast network provides travelers with a wide range of options for both business and leisure travel.

Introduction of Starlink Connectivity
Looking ahead, airBaltic is committed to further enhancing its passenger experience. The airline recently announced the upcoming introduction of complimentary high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet on its flights.
This innovative service will allow passengers to stay connected throughout their journey, whether for work or entertainment. Combined with its expanding network and dedication to customer satisfaction, airBaltic is confident that its passenger numbers will continue to climb.
Conclusion
airBaltic’s success is rooted in its hybrid business model, which combines the strengths of traditional network carriers and low-cost airlines.
This approach allows the airline to offer competitive fares while maintaining a high level of service and connectivity. The airline operates one of Europe’s youngest fleets, consisting of 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The airline officially welcomed its 50th fleet addition this week, marking a further strong opening to the year. It now continues steady progress towards its fleet goal of 100 A220 single-aisle aircraft.
As airBaltic continues to expand its network and enhance its services, it is poised for continued growth this year. The airline’s strong start to 2025 continues a momentum seen across 2024.
