The remaining 12 aircraft for the 15 order lot are scheduled for delivery in 2024 and 2025, further bolstering AirAsia’s operational capabilities.

To commemorate this milestone and celebrate the growth of their fleet, the carrier hosted a special ceremony. This took place at their corporate headquarters, RedQ, in Malaysia.

Anderson highlighted the benefits of the new aircraft. He noted that they will complement AirAsia’s existing fleet while bringing improved cost and operational efficiencies.

He added that the A321neo’s enhanced capabilities would support AirAsia’s continued expansion throughout the region and into the future.

AirAsia’s Vision for Growth

Bo Lingam, CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, described 2024 as a pivotal year for the company’s growth. He emphasized the importance of resuming Airbus A321neo deliveries in line with strong forecast demand.

The partnership with AerCap and Airbus plays a crucial role in AirAsia’s expansion plans over the next five years. Lingam noted that these aircraft would be key enablers for AirAsia’s Fly-thru services, which have been integral to the airline’s network growth.

The percentage of Fly-Thru guests has already grown to 18% this year, with expectations to reach 25% by 2025.
