This week saw Air Transat launch new transatlantic flights between Montréal and Marrakech-Menara International Airport.
The new route marks yet another to it’s portfolio of transatlantic services on offer into Africa.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
The New Montréal-Marrakech Flights with Air Transat…
Air Transat launched it’s flights between Montréal and Marrakech on June 12 under the flight number TS396.
It is understood that this non-stop service will operate year-round.
Furthermore, throughout the Summer it will operate on a twice-weekly service and once weekly between November and April.
Air Transat is using the Airbus A321neoLR on this particular route, which seats the following:
- 12 seats in “Club” – In a 2-2 format.
- 187 in Economy – In a 3-3 format.
The A321neoLR has been a useful aircraft for the Canadian carrier on the lower-density routes.
On top of this, they have 16 Airbus A330 aircraft which help support the busier routes, as per data from Planespotters.net.
Of the A321neoLR variant, they have 17 in service, with an average fleet age of 2.7 years.
As well as the new flights into Marrakech, Air Transat serve the following destinations in Europe:
- Malaga
- Faro
- Lisbon
- Porto
- Madrid
- Barcelona
- Marseille
- Toulouse
- Bordeaux
- Nice
- Lyon
- Nantes
- Paris
- Basel
- Venice
- Rome
- Lamezia
- Athens
- Zagreb
- Brussels
- Amsterdam
- London Gatwick
- Manchester
- Dublin
- Glasgow
As you can see, the new flights between Montréal and Marrakech join a significant list of transatlantic destinations.

Overall, from the two representatives words, it is clear that this is more than just a new route.
It connects cultures together and encourages further tourism between the two cities.

In conclusion, this is yet another significant milestone in the transatlantic journey for Air Transat.
Whilst the carrier has reported mixed results in their first-quarter financials, they are doing everything they can to provide a sustainable operation.
With the cultural and tourism links, the flights between Montréal and Marrakech are expected to prove popular.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how the route performs, as if it does, then there could be scope to expand frequencies further.
And if the route really takes off, then there is nothing to stop the Canadian carrier from upgauging to an Airbus A330 from the A321neoLR.
But for now, let’s see how the route performs in the first few weeks of it’s operation.
