Air India Unveils New Cabins for Airbus A320neo Aircraft

This week has seen Air India unveil it’s new cabins for Economy, Premium Economy & Business Class on it’s Airbus A320neo aircraft.

It is understood that VT-RTW and VT-RTZ are the first two aircraft to have the new cabins installed with the airline.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

The New Cabins on Air India’s Airbus A320…


This week has seen Air India unveil it's new cabins for Economy, Premium Economy & Business Class on it's Airbus A320neo aircraft.

This week has seen Air India unveil it's new cabins for Economy, Premium Economy & Business Class on it's Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Featured across the entire of the cabin on the Air India Airbus A320neo will be innovative mood lighting.

This includes illumination settings during take-off, landing, meal service and even on national holidays in India.

Furthermore, the Business Class offers a 40-inch seat with a deep seven inch recline with adjustable armrests, footrests and backrests.

It will also include a tray table clicked at the push of a button that includes a PED holder and has multiple charging ports.

As for the Premium Economy cabin, this featured a wider 32-inch seat pitch a four-inch recline on the Air India Airbus A320neo.

A PED holder and USB charging port is also included with the seat, and has more meal options than in Economy.

Finally, in Economy, this will offer a seat pitch of around 28-29 inches with a four-inch recline.

Air India have also confirmed that on their Airbus A320neo Economy cabin, it will come with a PED holder, a tray table, USB charging and a coat hook.

Moreover, Campbell Wilson, the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director at Air India had this to say:

“The introduction of a three-class cabin to Air India’s narrowbody fleet and commencement of interior refits are important steps in the journey of enhancing the flying experience.”

“The upgrade of the narrowbody fleet, which operates on domestic and short-haul international network, complements the upgraded widebody experience now available on our A350 fleet and new B777s, and on all other widebodies as they are refitted over the next two years.”

“This comprehensive upgradation of Air India’s physical product is an important component of transforming into a world-class airline.”

What Flights Can You Experience This On?

Furthermore, Air India has also confirmed the following flights which will be operated by the Airbus A320neo with the new cabins.

They are as follows, and are all daily flights, and will be in operation from July 1:

  • Flights between Delhi & Bengaluru.
    • AI0803 – Departs 0610 – Arrives 0855.
    • AI0505 – Departs 0950 – Arrives 1240.
    • AI0502 – Departs 1330 – Arrives 1625.
    • AI0503 – Departs 1715 – Arrives 2005.
    • AI0813 – Departs 0800 – Arrives 1100.
    • AI0507 – Departs 1145 – Arrives 1435.
    • AI0815 – Departs 1545 – Arrives 1840.
    • AI0509 – Departs 1930 – Arrives 2220
  • Flights between Delhi & Chandigarh:
    • AI0463 – Departs 2045 – Arrives 2200.
    • AI0464 – Departs 2245 – Arrives 2345.

Moreover, the above scheduling was placed into the general information about the new cabins on the Airbus A320neo.

Furthermore, this was to ensure that anyone wanting to fly the aircraft knows which flights to book.

Overall, as Wilson says, this represents an overarching strategy of enhancing the flying experience at Air India.

With the upgraded Airbus A350 and new Boeing 777s, this means that all areas of the fleet are covered.

Furthermore, whether it be short-haul or long-haul flights, the vision of better flying experience is coming together strongly.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether this will be expanded to their other Airbus A320ceo aircraft.

But for now, all eyes will be on July 1 to see what passengers think of the new product.
