An Air India Boeing 787-8 arriving from Delhi reported a hydraulic leak on approach to Birmingham on 13 December 2024.
Air India flight AI113 was conducting an arrival to runway 15 Birmingham International Airport. The flight was a scheduled service from Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

Whilst on final approach to runway 15, flight crew noted indications of a hydraulic leak. As a result, go around was initiated and the aircraft entered holding procedures. Troubleshooting checks were then carried out for the hydraulic problem.
After approximately 30 minutes of holding, the aircraft was committed to a further approach to runway 15. The flight managed to land without further incident and the aircraft was brought to a stop on the runway.
A post landing inspection by emergency services revealed a nose gear hydraulic leak. The aircraft was then placed undertow and removed to the apron hardstanding area.
The unserviceability prompted the postponement of the return service until the next day.

Flight data shows that flight AI113 had made a departure from Indira Gandhi International Airport at 1343 local time on 13 December.
Following departure, the flight set course normally, climbing to flight level FL400 for the long haul service to Birmingham International Airport.
Descent and initial approach procedures to the destination airport were similarly conducted normally. The technical problem was detected during the aircraft’s final approach segment to runway 15.
The aircraft conducting the AI113 rotation from Delhi was a Boeing 787-8, registered VT-ANN. this is 11.6 year old wide-body aircraft belonging to the national carrier Air India. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in August 2013.
