An Air France flight bound for Paris has declared an emergency and returned to Naples shortly after takeoff this morning.
Air France flight AF1579, operated by an Embraer ERJ-190, declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 just after takeoff from Naples International Airport (NAP).

The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service bound for Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG). Flight crew declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 just after takeoff as the aircraft climbed through 4000 feet.
The climb was continued to 7000 feet before the aircraft made a direct return to the origin airport. The nature of the emergency prompting the expedited return is not yet known.

Flight AF1579 made its initial departure from Naples International Airport at 0634 local time this morning. The flight was in the early stages of the climb when the emergency was declared. Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 at 0645 local time; just under 15 minutes after takeoff.
Having continued the climb to 7,000 feet, the aircraft then carried out a direct return to Naples International Airport. The flight subsequently landed at the origin airport at 0701 local time.
The aircraft conducting this morning’s AF1579 rotation to Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport was an Embraer ERJ-190, registered F-HBLN.
This is a 5.3 year old regional jet aircraft belonging to the subsidiary carrier Air France Hop. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in September 2019.
