Air France A320-200: Smoke Alarm on Final Approach to Stockholm

An Air France A320-200 arriving from Paris reported the activation of a cabin smoke alarm during final approach to Stockholm Arlanda on 15 October.

An Air France Airbus A320-200 arriving from Paris reported that a smoke alarm triggered during the approach to Stockholm Arlanda Airport on 15 October 2024.

Air France flight AF1062, operated by an Airbus A320-200, was conducting an arrival from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). The flight had been cleared to land on runway 01R Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and was on final approach when the incident occurred.

According to the Aviation Herald, flight crew reported that a smoke alarm was triggered in the cabin on final approach. Flight crew continued the approach and landed without incident on runway 01R.

Following the landing, the aircraft vacated the active runway and was brought to a stop on the taxiway. A precautionary inspection was then carried out by ground emergency services.

Following the inspection, the aircraft was able to continue to the apron hardstanding area.

Flight Details


Flight data shows that Air France flight AF1062 conducted a departure out of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 1611 local time on 15 October.

The flight had then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL370 (37,000 feet) for the north-westerly service to Stockholm.

Descend on approach procedures were similarly conducted normally, and the aircraft reportedly noted the activation of the smoke alarm during the final approach phase.

The aircraft conducting the AF1062 service from Paris was an Airbus A320-200 registered, F-GKXC. This is a 23.4-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the national carrier Air France. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in July 2001. The aircraft has been given the airline name ‘Le Mans’.
