An Air France Boeing 787-9 operating the AF226 service between Paris and New Delhi has declared an emergency.
Air France flight AF226, a 787-9 out of Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) declared an emergency with squawk code 7700. The aircraft is currently making a return to the origin airport in Paris.

Holding for Return Paris CDG
Having declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 not long after departure, flight AF226 is currently holding at FL240 near Strasburg.
This is presumably to dump fuel in preparation for a return to Paris CDG. The nature of the problem prompting the early return is not yet known.
Delayed Departure Paris CDG
Flight data shows that Air France flight AF226 made a delayed departure out of Paris Charles De Gaulle this afternoon. The flight shows an actual time of departure of 14:19 local time against a scheduled departure time of 10:05 local.
After departure, the flight had then proceeded normally, setting course for Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).
The flight had climbed to FL350 (35,000 feet) before flight crew initiated a descent and squawked code 7700 at 13:03 UTC.
The aircraft let down to FL240 and remains in a holding pattern to dump fuel.

Air France flight AF226 has now exited the holding pattern and is expediting a return to Paris CDG.
Weather conditions for the flight’s return to CDG is visual meteorological conditions (VFR) with light winds and visibility 10 kilometres or more. Active runways for arrivals are RWY 26/27.
On Descent Paris CDG
Flight AF226 has now left FL240 and is on descent for its return to Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG).
Update 13:57 UTC
Air France flight AF226 was originally bound for Delhi (DEL). As the aircraft continues its descent through FL200 on return to Paris (CDG), the flight has returned to a normal squawk code.
Continuing under a normal squawk code, the flight is now under vectoring for an approach to RWY 27, below 10,000 feet for its return.

Having declared an emergency and initiated a return to the origin airport earlier today, Air France flight AF226 has now landed RWY 27L Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG).
Update: Hydraulic Failure
According to the online source Flight Emergency, Air France flight AF226 make a precautionary return to Paris this afternoon due to a hydraulic failure.
