Air France flight AF274 from Paris to Tokyo is about to turn final for an emergency landing into Istanbul. The cause of the emergency is not yet known.

TOUCHDOWN!: About F-GSQM – The Air France 777 Involved in the Emergency…
TOUCHDOWN! AF274 has appeared to have touched down safely into IST following an emergency broadcast during it’s diversion.
At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is onboard the aircraft.
What we do know is some information about the aircraft, F-GSQM.
As per Planespotters, F-GSQM is a 18.2 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to Air France in March 2006.
Furthermore, of the 777-300ER variant, AF has 43 of them in it’s fleet.
Of the 43, all but four are in active service, with an average fleet age of 15.8 years.
As soon as we have more information pertinent to the reason of the emergency in Istanbul by AF274 Paris-Tokyo, then we will update you accordingly.
For now, this remains a developing story pending additional updates.
Come to a Stop on the Runway…
Understood AF274 has come to a stop on the runway. There are ops vehicles nearby the aircraft.
Taxiing to Vacate…
It looks like AF274 is now taxiing with the intention to vacate the runway.
Expected to Depart IST In An Hour…
As per the Air France flight status page, AF274 from Paris is expected to continue on to Tokyo from Istanbul in an hour’s time.
If it does depart on time, then this could indicate a medical emergency, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Stopped on the Taxiway…
AF274 has managed to clear the runway at IST, but is currently being swarmed by a series of ground vehicles at the airport. Still unclear of what is going on at this present time.
Departures & Arrivals Still Flowing…
Departures and arrivals are still flowing into IST at present. The Air France 777 remains on the taxiway near the threshold of Runway 17L.
Taxiing with Emergency Crews…
AF274 is on the move once again, and is being escorted by emergency crews, presumably to a stand so then passengers can deplane if necessary.
Parked on a Remote Stand…
AF274 has parked up on a remote stand, with emergency crews and operational vehicles still in the vicinity of the aircraft. Still awaiting confirmation from Air France on the cause of this.
Transponder Switched Off…
AF274 has switched off it’s transponder, but the ground vehicles are still in the vicinity of the aerodrome.

Via the Air France WhatsApp, it is understood that AF274 suffered a technical issue. Furthermore, what the nature of that technical issue is is yet to be confirmed.
Engine Failure Reported…
Furthermore, it is understood the technical issue at hand was an engine failure, as per reporting from @airplusnews.
Replacement Aircraft Near IST…
As expected, Air France have sent a replacement aircraft, being F-GSQU, to pick up the stranded passengers from Istanbul to continue onwards to Tokyo from Paris.
