U-Turn Back to CDG…
AF702 has made a u-turn over Andorra and looks to be making a return to CDG following the emergency declaration.
About F-GSQV: The Air France Boeing 777 Involved in the Emergency on AF702…
Also, F-GSQV is understood to be the aircraft involved in this incident.
As per Planespotters, F-GSQV is a 17.2 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to AF in May 2007.
Furthermore, of the 777-300ER variant, the airline has 43 of them in their fleet.
Moreover, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 15.9 years.
Descending…
AF702 appears to be descending and is now tracking north-easterly. Furthermore, it is unclear what the issue is onboard the aircraft.
Potential Hold to Burn Fuel?
AF702 appears to be entering a hold, presumably to burn fuel if they are too heavy to perform a safe landing.
Toulouse Is Nearby…
Air France flight AF702, the Boeing 777 which declared an emergency is descending through FL130. Moreover, it is key to note that Toulouse is nearby and available for an emergency diversion.
Fuel Burn Continues…
AF702 continues to burn off fuel, and has stopped it’s descent at FL130 at present.
Furthermore, there is still no indication of diversion field or cause of the emergency.
Climbing Again…
AF702 now climbing from FL130, more than likely due to the mountainous terrain in the aircraft’s vicinity.
CDG Likely Diversion Point…
Paris CDG looks the most likely for Air France flight AF702, which was originally bound for Abidjan.
Furthermore, the aircraft is now climbing at 3,000 feet per minute and is tracking north.
CDG Confirmed For Diversion…
As per RadarBox, Paris CDG has now been confirmed as the diversion field, which would indicate some form of technical issue onboard.
If it was a Medical-related incident, the aircraft would have landed by now.
Climbing to a Suitable Altitude…
AF702 continues to climb to a more suitable altitude for better fuel burn following the significant dump made near Toulouse.

Air France flight AF702, originally bound for Abidjan, has changed it’s squawk from 7700 to 7621 whilst on it’s divert back to Paris CDG.
