Air Canada has been named the World’s Leading Airline to North America at the World Travel Awards.
The global ceremony in Madeira, Portugal, celebrated the airline’s outstanding commitment to excellence and customer service.
Recognition at World Travel Awards
Air Canada has achieved prestigious recognition at the World Travel Awards, solidifying its position as a top-tier international airline.
Lisa M. Pierce, Air Canada’s vice-president of global sales and Air Canada Vacations, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the accolade. “This recognition is a testament to our incredible team of over 39,000 dedicated employees who work tirelessly to ensure safe and exceptional travel experiences for our customers,” she said.
The airline’s success extends beyond this single award. In 2024, Air Canada has accumulated an impressive array of international recognitions that highlight its comprehensive excellence across multiple service dimensions.
How Winners Are Determined
The World Travel Awards employs a comprehensive selection process that involves worldwide polling. Qualified travel sector executives and consumer travel buyers participate in the voting. This ensures a democratic and representative selection of top-performing airlines and travel organizations.
For Air Canada, these awards reflect a sustained commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence in the highly competitive global aviation industry.
Air Canada is Canada’s largest airline, the country’s flag carrier and a founding member of Star Alliance. The airline alliance is the world’s most comprehensive air transportation network.
It currently provides scheduled service directly to more than 180 airports in Canada, the United States and internationally. Air Canada’s network currently spans six continents. It holds a Four-Star ranking from Skytrax.
A Year of Global Accolades
Skytrax, a renowned global airline rating organization, has been particularly generous in acknowledging Air Canada’s superior performance.
The airline has received several distinguished awards. These include Best Cabin Crew in Canada, Most Family Friendly Airline in North America. World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge Catering for the Toronto Air Canada Signature Suite. Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering in North America, and recognition as the Cleanest Airline in North America.
Additionally, the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) recognized Air Canada with the 2025 Five Star Global Airline Award and the 2024 APEX Best in Entertainment Award in North America.
Celebrating Star Alliance
The awards ceremony also celebrated Star Alliance, the global airline network of which Air Canada is a founding member. The World Travel Awards simultaneously named Star Alliance the World’s Leading Airline Alliance, further underscoring the collaborative strength of the network.
