Air Canada has revealed its most ambitious winter sun schedule yet, boosting its Latin America network by 16% compared to last winter.
This expansion introduces four new Latin American destinations; marking the largest regional expansion for the carrier on record.
The winter program also sees the addition of 13 routes, offering travelers more options for sunseeker getaways.
With over 55 daily flights and 80,000 weekly seats, Air Canada will provide the most extensive Latin American schedule of any Canadian airline for the 2025-26 winter season.
Winter Schedule Highlights
The airline is adding four vibrant new destinations: Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara.
Additionally, 13 new routes will connect travelers to sought-after spots like Santiago, Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Nassau, Montego Bay, and Huatulco.

Popular vacation destinations will also see increased flight frequencies, ensuring more flexibility for travelers. New routes will be inaugurated from Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, and Vancouver. These will link to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Mexico, catering to Canadians eager for warm escapes.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo, shared enthusiasm for the expansion. “Our New Frontiers strategy is driving this growth, bringing Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara into our global network.”
“We’re also launching new flights to Santiago from Montreal. This schedule serves Canadian vacationers, global travelers connecting through our hubs, and growing cargo opportunities.”
Air Canada’s network depth makes it a top choice for diverse travel needs. Whether it’s Europeans connecting to Santiago or Guadalajara, Canadians chasing sun in the Caribbean, or adventurers exploring six continents, the airline’s winter schedule has something for everyone.
“Our customers can start planning their winter trips now, and we can’t wait to welcome them onboard,” Galardo added.

Addition of Rio de Janeiro
The addition of Rio de Janeiro has sparked excitement, with Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur, Brazil’s Tourism Board, highlighting the city’s appeal.
“Rio offers hiking, beaches, Afro-Brazilian culture, stunning landscapes, and diverse cuisine. This route meets Canadian travelers’ demand for authentic, sustainable experiences. We’re committed to strengthening ties between Brazil and Canada.”
Conclusion
The winter expansion aligns with Air Canada’s “New Frontiers strategy,” which focuses on growing its global network, particularly in Latin America. Broadly, it aims to capture demand from Canadian vacationers, international travelers (via Sixth Freedom connections), and cargo opportunities.
The 16% increase in seat capacity, new destinations like Rio de Janeiro and Guadalajara, and 13 new routes indicate a proactive push to tap into growing markets.
The Latin America expansion reflects strategic diversification and the region’s rising appeal for leisure and business travel.
