Air Canada is gearing up for the summer travel season with an expansion of its UK and European network.
The airline has unveiled plans to introduce a new route and increase flight frequencies to some of Europe’s most sought-after destinations.
This move reflects Air Canada’s commitment to meeting growing demand from its hubs in Montreal and Toronto.
UK: Launch of Direct Edinburgh Route
One of the highlights of this expansion is the launch of new non-stop summer flights from Montreal to Edinburgh, Scotland. This service complements the airline’s existing seasonal route from Toronto to the Scottish capital.
Travelers can now explore Edinburgh’s rich history, stunning castles, and scenic lochs with greater ease, thanks to this direct connection from Canada’s second-largest metropolitan area.
The new Montreal-Edinburgh route strengthens Air Canada’s presence in the UK, offering a convenient link for both leisure and business travelers.

Europe: Capacity Increases
In addition to the Edinburgh service, Air Canada is boosting capacity to other popular European cities. The airline will add nearly 1,300 weekly seats to Paris and Athens, while extending its peak-season Toronto-Rome schedule through October.
These enhancements ensure more flexibility and choice for passengers planning their European adventures.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, & President Cargo comments on the UK and European focus.“We’re thrilled to introduce the only non-stop flights between Montreal and Edinburgh,” he said.
“This new route connects Scotland to our extensive Montreal hub, opening up a world of travel possibilities. We’re also increasing flights to Paris, Athens, and Rome from our global hub in Toronto to meet anticipated demand.
“At Air Canada, we take pride in supporting tourism and reuniting friends and family. We can’t wait to welcome our customers onboard.”

More Flights to France, Greece, and Italy
Air Canada’s expanded European schedule includes significant upgrades to its Paris, Athens, and Rome services.
For Paris, the airline is adding three new weekly flights from Toronto on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This brings the total to up to 10 weekly flights from Toronto and 14 from Montreal, offering travelers ample opportunities to visit the City of Light.
In Greece, Athens will see two additional flights from Toronto on Tuesdays and Fridays. These extra frequencies will run through October, providing up to 10 weekly flights from both Toronto and Montreal.
Whether it’s the Acropolis or the vibrant streets of Plaka, passengers can enjoy extended access to this Mediterranean gem.
Meanwhile, Rome enthusiasts will benefit from up to four additional weekly flights from Toronto, also extended through October.
This brings the total to 12 weekly flights from Toronto and nine from Montreal. The Eternal City’s iconic landmarks, from the Colosseum to Vatican City, are now more accessible than ever.
Summary
By increasing capacity to the UK and Europe, the airline is not only catering to leisure travelers but also strengthening ties between Canada and these regions.
The additional flights align with the peak summer travel period, and seek to meet current travel demand in Montreal and Toronto.
The airline’s updated schedule is effective for summer 2025, with its Montreal and Toronto hubs serving as gateways to North America and beyond.
