Air Canada Bolsters Fleet with Eight New Boeing 737-8s

Air Canada will procure eight Boeing 737-8 aircraft under lease. The aircraft are set for delivery this year and will see service in 2025.

Air Canada has announced a strategic agreement with BOC Aviation Limited for the placement of eight brand-new Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

This addition strengthens Air Canada’s fleet flexibility, expands capacity, and aligns with the airline’s sustainability goals.

Aircraft Configuration & Delivery Schedule

The eight Boeing 737-8s are scheduled to arrive in 2024. Following essential modifications, they will enter service in 2025.

Initially, the aircraft will operate with a single Economy class configuration. Air Canada plans to reconfigure them later to match the airline’s established narrow-body, two-cabin standard, ensuring a consistent passenger experience.

All eight aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, renowned for their fuel efficiency.

Michael Rousseau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada gave comment on the acquisition.

“We are eager to welcome these fuel-efficient 737-8s to our fleet in 2025 after undergoing necessary modifications,” he said.

“These aircraft will provide us with greater operational agility while contributing to our commitment of reducing emissions.”
