Cork Airport sees a new network addition with the launch of a new direct connection to Scotland. The new Aer Lingus Regional service will offer four-times weekly flights to Glasgow. Operated by Emerald Airlines, it runs on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
The new service establishes a vital transportation link between Cork and Glasgow that caters to diverse travel needs, from business meetings to leisure getaways.
Connection to Glasgow
Glasgow, Scotland’s largest urban center, boasts a metropolitan population of 1.8 million residents and stands as a cultural powerhouse in the region.
The city captivates visitors with its dynamic nightlife, stunning Victorian and modern architecture, fascinating museums, and excellent shopping destinations.
Beyond its urban attractions, Glasgow serves as a perfect gateway for exploring Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes and iconic regions, including:
- The scenic Clyde Valley, known for its historic gardens and orchards
- Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, offering spectacular Highland scenery
- The diverse coastal landscapes of Ayrshire & Arran
The new Cork-Glasgow service provides competitive travel options with fares starting at €34.99. Operating with an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, which accommodates 72 passengers, the service demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
This aircraft choice significantly reduces environmental impact, producing 40% less CO2 emissions compared to other regional aircraft in its class.
Increased Cork-Bristol Frequency
In a parallel development strengthening regional connectivity, Aer Lingus Regional has enhanced its popular Cork-Bristol route by adding three extra weekly flights.
This expansion provides passengers with greater flexibility in planning their travel and reflects the airline’s responsive approach to growing demand.
Ian Lough, Emerald Airlines’ Head of Commercial, was pleased with the new additions. “We’re thrilled to launch our Cork-Glasgow connection! The expanded Bristol service shows our strong commitment to passenger needs.”
“These improvements deliver more choices and demonstrate our focus on convenient travel solutions across our routes.”
Tara Finn, Cork Airport’s Head of Aviation Business Development & Communications, added: “The new Glasgow service marks an exciting milestone. This route perfectly complements our Edinburgh flights and expands our UK network.”
“Glasgow offers incredible experiences – from its rich heritage and vibrant arts scene to outstanding cuisine and retail therapy. We’re also delighted to see more Bristol flights, and we appreciate Emerald Airlines’ continued expansion at Cork Airport. This growth further cements Cork Airport’s position as a key gateway for regional connectivity.”
