Aer Lingus Flight Cardiff-Belfast Declares Emergency

Aer Lingus flight EI3621, an ATR 72-600 inbound from Cardiff, has declared an emergency whilst approaching Belfast (BHD).

An Aer Lingus flight operating from Cardiff to Belfast has declared an emergency whilst enroute.

Aer Lingus flight EI3621, an ATR 72-600 inbound from Cardiff International Airport, declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst approaching the destination.

Having declared an emergency whilst established on the descent and passing through FL140 (14,000 feet), flight EI3621 has continued to expedite its approach into Belfast City Airport.

The nature of the emergency is not yet known.

Aer Lingus flight EI3621 is in the latter stages of its approach to Belfast (BHD), having declared the emergency in the later stages of descent into the destination airport.

Having declared an emergency during the approach earlier this morning, Aer Lingus flight EI3621 from Cardiff has now landed at Belfast City Airport.

Flight Details


Flight data shows that Aer Lingus flight EI3621 made a departure ahead of schedule from Cardiff International Airport. Departure time was logged at 0805 local time this morning. The regional flight then set course normally for Belfast. Flight crew climbed the aircraft to flight level FL160 (16,000 feet) for the short hop service.

Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 at 0927 local time, with the aircraft commencing its descent into the destination airport. The flight then maintained code 7700 as a priority though the remaining descent and approach procedure.

The aircraft conducting the EI3621 service from Cardiff was an ATR 72-600, registered G-CMMN. This is an 11.6 year old regional turboprop aircraft belonging to the carrier Aer Lingus. It is operated by Emerald Airlines UK on behalf of the carrier.

The aircraft has been in operational service with the airline since May 2023.
