Aegean Airlines Places Order for Eight Additional Airbus A321neo Aircraft

Aegean Airlines has announced the placement of an additional order for 8 Airbus A321neo aircraft, bringing its total A320neo Family order to 60.

Aegean Airlines, Greece’s leading carrier will see a significant expansion of its fleet. The airline has recently announced an order for eight additional narrowbody Airbus A321neo aircraft.

This move is a crucial step in Aegean’s strategic plan to broaden its network and bolster its operational capabilities. This latest order brings Aegean’s total direct order book with Airbus to an impressive 60 aircraft from the A320neo Family.

Aegean Airlines Deliveries to Date


37 of these backordered aircraft have already been delivered, showcasing the airline’s rapid modernization efforts. The focus on the A321neo, the largest member of the A320neo Family, highlights Aegean’s preference for aircraft with increased capacity and extended range.  

Dimitris Gerogiannis, Aegean’s Chief Executive Officer, stressed the importance of this expansion. “The expansion of our investment plan with the additional order of eight Airbus A321neo aircraft is essential for achieving our growth objectives.”

“It further enhances the competitiveness of our operations,” he stated. He also highlighted the airline’s strategic focus on the A321neo, noting that it will soon comprise two-thirds of their Airbus fleet.

This strategic decision underscores Aegean’s commitment to providing efficient and comfortable travel options to its passengers. The A321neo is renowned for its exceptional range and performance, making it ideal for both European and long-haul routes.  

Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, was pleased with the continued partnership. “We are delighted that Aegean has once again chosen the fuel-efficient A321neo,” he said.

“This decision underscores Aegean’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience. We value our collaboration with the largest Greek airline and look forward to continuing our partnership, supporting their growth plans within Europe and beyond.”

A321neo Features & Benefits


The A321neo’s advanced technology offers significant benefits. By incorporating new generation engines and Sharklets, the aircraft achieves over 20% fuel savings.

There is a corresponding reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft. This focus on sustainability aligns with the aviation industry’s growing emphasis on environmental responsibility.  

Furthermore, the A321neo maximizes passenger comfort with one of the widest single-aisle cabins available. This enhanced comfort, combined with the aircraft’s efficiency, makes it a preferred choice for both airlines and passengers.  

In line with the industry’s push towards sustainable aviation, the A321neo is capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Airbus is actively working towards achieving 100% SAF capability for its aircraft by 2030.
