An ACT Airlines Boeing 747-400F operating a freighter service to Dubai made a precautionary return to Hong Kong with a wing flap problem on 28 July 2024.
The ACT Airlines Boeing 747 freighter was operating flight EK9887 from Hong Kong to Dubai on behalf of Emirates.

Following the departure from Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport (HKG), the aircraft experienced a problem with its wing flaps.
As a result, the crew terminated the climb in order to troubleshoot the problem. The aircraft subsequently entered a holding pattern to dump fuel.
It then made a precautionary return to the origin airport (HKG) where it landed without further incident just under two hours after its initial departure.

Flight data shows that flight EK9887 made a delayed departure out of Hong Kong (HKG) at 1413 local time. Scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 1015 local time.
The aircraft then set course and had climbed to flight level FL190 (19,000 feet) before flight crew terminated the climb procedure.
The flight then held in the vicinity of Hong Kong, dumping fuel whilst in a holding pattern before returning to the origin airport.
Aircraft conducting the EK9887 service on behalf of Emirates was a Boeing 747-400F freighter aircraft registered TC-ACF. ACT Airlines currently operate the 31.2 year old converted freighter aircraft.
